Struggle To Sleep? Be Careful of a Heart Attack

Some people always stay up late while looking at their smartphones, watching movies or reading a book every night and ended up having an insomnia, which means difficulty of sleeping. If you are affected to this, I have some very bad news for you.

A new research from China Medical University which led by Qiao He discovered that people with insomnia could increase the risk of heart attack and stroke by analyzing 15 studies for two years with a total of 160,867 participants.

For the last research, insomnia has been linked to poor health. And the new research found out that the symptoms of insomnia which include difficulty of sleeping, waking up early in the morning, difficulty maintaining sleep has been linked to a possibility of acute myocardial infarction, heart disease or stroke when these associated symptoms prolong. Having insomnia can affect your health which results to problems with blood circulation to the organs specially to the heart.

The study conducted showed that difficulty of sleep or maintaining sleep has been linked to 11%, 18%, and 27% higher of heart disease and stroke compared to those individuals who do not experience insomnia symptoms. However there was no association between early-morning awakening and an increased risk of the conditions yet.

Qiao He stated,  "Sleep is important for biological recovery and takes around a third of our lifetime, but in modern society more and more people complain of insomnia,". "For example, it is reported that approximately one-third of the general population in Germany has suffered from insomnia symptoms."

In her studies, she stated that insomnia can also affect the metabolism and endocrine function of a person. It can also increase blood pressure, and elevate levels of proinflammatory and inflammatory cytokines, which are also triggering factors cardiovascular diseases and other related heart diseases. She also added that women are prone to insomnia because of their genes, sex hormones, their daily activities which also includes stress. She advised that women must have enough time to rest and sleep to overcome stress and improve general health and must not ignore the symptoms of prolong insomnia which could actually put you in danger later on.

How to avoid sleeping late.

Insomnia can affect your health and your mood. Because your body will have insufficient energy, it can create more problems later on when you  won't seek help.

Here are some ways to prevent insomnia or difficulty of sleeping:

1. Exercise regularly.
2. Avoid naps
3. Avoid using smartphones while on bed.
4. Drink small amount of water before going to sleep.
5. Do not eat too much during dinner.
6. Avoid midnight snacks.
7. Schedule your sleeping time without delays.
8. Wake up every morning on a regular time.
9. Make your sleeping environment comfortable.
10. Do not eat too much carbs on dinner.
11. Do not drink stimulants like alcohol or caffeine.
12. Avoid eating chocolates.
